Gus and Erin’s journey began on April 22, 2022 when they first met at CrossFit Resolve. Gus was visiting Brisbane from Adelaide, and although their paths crossed briefly that day, they then parted ways just as quickly. But fate had other plans. Later that year when Gus moved back to Brisbane they met again and shared their first date a week later on September 10th. From that moment everything felt like it was meant to be.

In late November 2022, Gus and Erin shared a special moment when they celebrated Thanksgiving with Erin’s friends. Gus was welcomed warmly by each one of them and it was clear how much Erin valued her close-knit circle. This experience deepened their connection, reminding them both of the kindness and love that had already begun to grow between them.

By December 2022, another unforgettable moment unfolded. Having just moved to the coast, Gus invited Erin to watch the sunset at Currumbin Beach. As the sky turned vibrant pink, orange, and golden, Gus realized just how extraordinary Erin was to him. In that peaceful moment, with the waves crashing and the sky painting itself with brilliant colours, he knew she was the one he wanted to spend his life with.

During the Christmas and New Year’s holidays of 2022, Erin met Gus’ parents. The warmth, kindness, and natural ease she brought to the occasion further confirmed Gus’ thoughts. On Christmas day of this same year Gus met Erin’s parents and extended family. It felt like he had always been there, and Erin was beginning to hope that he would always be there.

Over the following year, Gus and Erin shared countless adventures together. They visited many lovely places, hosted overseas and local visitors, competed side by side in CrossFit competitions, taught their pug to stand-up paddleboard, they hiked, ran races, visited Gus’ loved ones in South America, snowboarded together, celebrated birthdays and anniversaries, drove back and forwards between the coast and Brisbane endless times and spent many sun-filled days enjoying life.

In late 2023 Erin made the decision to move to the Southern Gold Coast to be with Gus. This move marked another exciting chapter in their story. In December 2023 they took a major step—purchasing their first home together and beginning their new life side by side by the beach.

Their journey has been built on a shared love for being active, good food, and spending time with loved ones. Their love has been built on a foundation of kindness, generosity, mutual admiration, fun and laughter. But the most meaningful moment came at one of their favourite spots on the Southern Gold Coast—the Kirra rock wall. With the ocean as their backdrop and Erin’s favourite “OMG” ice cream in hand, Gus asked Erin to be his forever. And of course, she said yes.
